Thing 8: Facebook

Ooo the dreaded Facebook, lol.  We already had the debate on 'should we, shouldn't we?' before we opened and agreed that as long as we were careful it would be a good platform and easily shut down if anything got out of hand.
We have had our Facebook page for just over a year now and it has been positive so far.  We have been able to showcase our home, certain activities and events we have undertaken and also view and share work done by other homes, this allows us to connect with the wider care community and keep up to date with whats going on.  All shares and comments etc have been positive and we feel this will continue.  Some of our residents even have their own facebook pages.
We have reviewed all of our security settings and are happy that we have the appropriate settings for our page. If anyone was to post anything inappropriate we could quickly delete it and block them.
We are aware of the Groups but so far have not seen fit to create one, perhaps in the future it would be beneficial in some way, e.g. connecting directly with families of residents or even the residents themselves but we are currently setting up a new care plan management software which will allow us a completely private and secure way of connecting with families so it be unnecessary to do it Facebook.
